Bors® was developed for high volume production, not just for occasional trimming. Extensive field tests in Florida, Georgia and Wisconsin by professional trimmers have shown that one single chain saw blade would trim thousands of animals before the blade showed signs of needing to be replaced. Proven to trim thousands of animals and because it can easily be sharpened by hand there are no inserts to buy, no shipping charges and no manufacturer sharpening costs. With the Bors® proven operating cost of less than a penny per hoof, this could result in a savings of over $1,500 per year versus the cost of using other rotary tools. The professional hoof trimmers report that for maximum performance of the blade, you should re-sharpen after 15 to 20 cows. Why so frequently? First, we’ve found that the tungsten carbide teeth will last longer if the operator keeps the teeth sharp. Secondly, because it doesn’t take but a couple of minutes to put an edge back on the teeth, it’s not inconvenient. Thirdly, because it’s convenient to keep the teeth sharp, that means that you’re always using a nice sharp tool to trim with. That makes it easier and faster to trim. With the way the cutting points are positioned at the edge of the disc, Bors utilizes a smoother, longer, pulling cut that involves using your arms and shoulders. allowing a smooth cut across the hoof without grabbing or walking. Many other rotary type blades require a chopping type motion with the grinder to make the cut. This requires a lot of wrist action with the wrist subsequently becoming fatigued at the end of the day and worn down over time. BORS reduces strain on the wrist by eliminating the chipping motion. Using the BORS is much more natural and less tiring after a long day of trimming hooves.
